Union Artillery

More artillery for the big game. This time it is Kent's wargame figure painting machine at it again.

Perry's figures, painted up beautifully and based to perfection!

Thanks Kent for the wonderful photos of these beasts!

Happy New Year everyone!

Rebel Artillery

The first glimpses of some Rebel artillery have come in. These wonderful looking pieces are from Russell Briant and they make up Johnson's divisional artillery for our Gettysburg game.

The flag is a nice touch Russell!

Some Union artillery on it's way very soon!!!

A growing tide of blue!

The Union army keeps on growing. This time it is due to Kent and his brushes. 20 stands of very well painted figures on wonderful looking bases.

Kent has made several posts on his own blog covering the painting of these guys from start to finish. Here is the link to these chaps with a few more photos,

Figures are a mix of Perry plastics Perry metal and Sash & Saber miniatures
the flags are from free warflags.

A great boost for the Army of Northern Virginia!

Coming soon......
Next up is some photos of Kent's rapidly growing Union army and I have just received some photos of Russell's artillery.

Local Christchurch wargamer Paul "Jacko" Jackson has been painting up a few more Union troops to help the cause. There are more to come from Paul and you can check on his progress on his blog

Very nice work here Paul.

This is starting to look rather one-sided.          Where are all the Rebels?????

Union Artillery.

Just a couple of guns along with their crews that I painted up a year or so ago.  As I am doing Confederate troops for the Gettysburg game these will be the only Union artillery that I will do. My next lot of guns will be Rebel ones.

These guys are from Foundry .

Just over 200 days to go!!!!

I know there are a lot more troops that are painted up and going to be at this game. Please let me know you totals for the points! and photos too if possible.

Nick Garden has emailed some more to me tonight and these will be posted soon.

Another Union unit ready to fight.

Nick Garden has sent in this photo of his recently finished unit.

Here is what Nick had to say,

Flags are a temp measure till I get my order.

My camera and lighting is poor but here is: III Corp, 2nd Division, 3rd Brigade. 5th, 6th and 7th New Jersey Regiments.

Great work on these guys Nick.

If anyone else has some photos of their ACW troops for this Gettysburg game please send them in.

Chris tells me that he has nearly got the list ready to post!!!

I will put it up on the blog as soon as I get it!

The painting has started

I started putting the brush to work last night and have decided to do all the figures i have in their base coats and do all there skin that's nearly 300 figures, i have a batch of about 100 that i m working on at work in my lunch times, It's going to take a while but at least i'm underway, i have about 80 ready to base and about 60 still to glue up. they should be ready to undercoat on the weekend so here's a couple of pic's of the progress,  I've done the skin the first of three layers of dark blue and two layers of the lighter blue still haven't decided on the third highlight yet so if you have a suggestion let me know.
I've added a pic of some Sash and Sabers that i did about a month ago i had quite a few comments on the pants not being light enough

Reinforcements Arrive

I've been coordinating and organising a rather large order from Perry Miniatures on behalf of six other guys. The Perry's were nice enough to come to the party and so we got a pretty handy discount. Part of the order arrived last week (see Kent's blog) and the rest turned up today. This lot should keep the guys busy for a while. As you can see, they are taking this Gettysburg project pretty seriously!

More Rebel recruits!

Here are some more photos from Russell Briant of his wonderful Confederate troops. I believe these represent Jones' Brigade of Johnson Division, part of 2nd Corp under Ewell.

The flags are yet to be added.
